The book is the biography and study of the artist Sir Edwin Landseer ( 1802 - 73). He was the favourite painter of Queen Victoria and was an infant prodigy sketching at the age of 8 years. Famous for his portrayal of animals in paintings and engravings eg. "Monarch of the Glen" and he designed the lions at the base of Nelson's column. Later he was totally eclipsed and considered shallow for humanizing and romanticizing animals.
