The story of the episode culture clash, part of the early colonial Australian and New Zealand history that took place in Whangaroa habour in 1809. 
In 1968 divers Wade Doak and Kelly Tarlton explored and salvaged the wreck of the Boyd, burnt to the waterline with its crew and passengers killed in Whangaroa Harbour in 1809.
