Author Spotlight: Geraldine Brooks

One of the most consistently popular authors at Dog Eared Books is Geraldine Brooks. The Jewish-Australian-American author is one of them few that I might keep a couple of copies of each of her books. When her People of the Book was the Book of the Week early on in my tenure as owner, we ran out of copies but not a single person bought it for themselves that week. Every person who bought it, had already read it and was getting a second copy to give to a friend.

Most of Brooks’s works are historical fiction, either based on true people, an event or even a historical inspiration. So if you’re not a fan of historical fiction, now would be a good time to turn away. However, if like me, you love a good yarn that teaches you something these books are perfect. Her style of writing is easy to read, but there’s always enough guts to the story to keep you going.

We always have at least a couple of her books in stock, if not almost everything she’s written. So come down and have a chat and we’ll let you know which one to start with (People of the Book, if you haven’t read any already!)
