Books that made me cry...

I don't think I'm a big crier in normal life. However my partner often refers to a 'tear quota' that I need to fill and and if I don’t, then I have a massive bawl to get it out of my system. Well, these books may have been read after a couple of dry months because they all had the tears streaming down my cheeks.

I made the mistake of reading Seven Little Australians in public and I think it was the first time I've cried in public. The ending took me by surprise and well, no fair! Meanwhile I started Me Before You at 9pm at night and was still reading with my eyes propped open with matchsticks at 4am as I had to know what happened!

We all need a good cry sometimes though and a good book can help you clear some of those emotions and give you a bit of a ‘pick-me-up’ at the same time. These have all been read and tested by many people. Unfortunately all are going to break your heart, at least just a little bit, but they’re worth it.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

My Sister lives on the Mantlepiece by Annabel Pitcher

Seven Little Australians by Ethel Turner

Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian

Me Before You by Jojo Moyse

Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper
